I remember first trying yoga in my late teen's and I was
sure that I didn't like it. In fact I told my
sister-in-law (who happened to love the class and wasn't
my sister-in-law at the time) that I
absolutely hated it. I was so sure that I was not going
to try it again, it was uncomfortable and it gave me a
headache. Needless to say I was wrong, not so many years
later I tried again, a different style, a different
teacher, a completely different experience - this time I
fell in love.
Shortly after the birth of my first daughter Sara I
started my teacher training with
Yogafit
Training Systems. A few years later later I
earned my 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT)
designation, and started freelance teaching but I wasn't
done. I started various speciality trainings and working
towards my 500hr Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT)
designation with the
South Okanagan Yoga Association (which I accomplished just before
the birth of my second daughter Emily). Of course
education is always on-going as well.
I believe that yoga is just part of a balanced lifestyle. You
can't ignore the need for healthy eating, a calm
environment, cardiovascular training or
cross-training with other sports and activities. My goal
is to incorporate the amazing philosophy of yoga into
the rest of my life as well, keeping my family happy and
healthy. I am
hopelessly enthusiastic about introducing yoga to
everyone and learning more about it all myself !!

Yoga Style
Style -Hatha Yoga
Hatha (pronounced ha-ta) Yoga is "yoga for health".
Using linked poses that warm-up the body, build
strength, flexibility and then cool the body down, we
get a complete mind and body work-out. Yoga uses your
own body weight for resistance and is a non-competitive
activity. There are alternatives to customize each pose
for every age, ability and comfort level. We can
incorporate breathing exercises, chakra center/energy
work and/or chanting if desired. This is applicable for
the general population or specialty groups such as kids,
fertility, seniors, pre or post natal, depression & plus
sized clients.
Benefits are endless but some examples are: renews,
invigorates, heals, stretches, strengthens, enhances
lung capacity, promoted balance, alignment, circulation,
stress management, ability to reduce problems such as
back aches & constipation, raises energy levels, tones
muscles, boosts metabolism, increases body awareness and
much, much more.
